Founded in 1976 by Rick Moore, R. Moore Homes began with a simple vision to build quality homes with integrity, craftsmanship, and pride. What began with deck and addition projects in Scarborough quickly evolved into a full scale home building company, officially launching as R. Moore Construction on May 20, 1976. From the beginning, Rick embraced innovation and opportunity, becoming one of the first builders in the region to secure what is now known as Tarion warranty certification, setting a standard of trust that continues today.
Through the late 1970s and 1980s, the company expanded across Ontario, building a wide range of custom homes while partnering with respected names such as Royal Homes and Viceroy Homes. A pivotal chapter came with the acquisition and growth of Confederation Log Homes, where large scale production facilities were developed, including a custom log drying kiln and model home on site. This era also saw expansion beyond Canada, with projects reaching into U.S., reflecting ambition and a reputation that extended well beyond the Kawarthas.
R. Moore Homes continued to evolve through the 1990s and early 2000s, focusing on Guildcrest and architecturally designed homes throughout Central Ontario. With a strong commitment to quality and performance, the company achieved R2000 and Energy Star certifications, reinforcing its dedication to building efficient, forward thinking homes. Alongside custom builds, we also began shaping communities, including Churchdown Crossings, Churchdown Mews, and Jennings Creek, creating thoughtfully planned neighbourhoods throughout the Kawartha Lakes region.
At its core, R. Moore Homes has always been a family centered business, one that has grown across generations. Today, Rick’s sons, Ryan and Kevin Moore, are leading the next chapter of the company. In 2023, ownership was formally passed to Ryan, Kevin, and long time team member Nathaniel, marking an important milestone in the company’s evolution. Having grown up around the business, Ryan and Kevin bring a deep understanding of the craft and the values it was built on, and continue to drive the company forward.
Even as the next generation leads the way, Rick remains actively involved in every build, continuing to share his experience, insight, and hands on approach that have defined the company from the very beginning. That connection between past and present is a big part of what sets R. Moore Homes apart. Backed by strong relationships with local trades, some spanning decades, and a commitment to quality at every stage, we build homes that reflect how families truly live.
Now, as R. Moore Homes celebrates 50 years in 2026, it stands as more than a home builder, it is a reflection of generations of experience, trusted craftsmanship, and a deep connection to the communities it serves
Since R. Moore Homes was founded in 1976, its evolution has included building custom homes and Royal Homes across Ontario.
We were an early Hudac (Tarion) Warranty certified builder, constructing Viceroy, Confederation, Guildcrest, and architect-designed homes, expanding our reach through milestones like setting up a Tennessee satellite office, model homes, growing production facilities, and earning energy-efficiency certifications.
Over the decades, our growth also took shape through land and neighbourhood development, including homes on Logie Street, eight lots in Churchdown Crossings, 19 lots in Churchdown Mews, and 20 lots in Jennings Creek, reflecting 50 years of growing our business and our family.
